The charity to receive our donations has been MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES
(MSF).
The reason we chose to donate to MSF is detailed below:
MSF is a well recognised and highly respected independent humanitarian medical
aid agency committed to two objectives: providing medical aid wherever needed,
regardless of race, religion, politics or sex; and raising awareness of the
plight of the people they help.
MSF is largely funded from private (or corporate) donations, rather than from
governments and this gives them the freedom to provide aid where it is needed
most without being constrained to provide aid based on political pressure.
You may often notice MSF as being one of the first agencies into disaster areas
and they may well be one of the last to remain in dangerous or politically
unstable areas.
