why are the opening prices quoted as say £198 to new york then when you look them up the cheapest is £230?

In answer to the opening prices query and the September prices comment, the reason is because the expedia fares are selling so fast at the moment that our spiders are having difficulty keeping track. The prices should be updated tonight. We apologise for any inaccuracies.
may fares to ny
All of the listed cheap fares expire in april. Am i better to wait a while to book for may flights to ny, or take what i can find now?

I guess fares for May onwards will cost more because that is getting towards the summer season.
As for when to buy, this depends partly on how important it is for you to travel during May or whether you could risk losing the flight altogether. In our estimation however (and it is only a guess really), we would say that flights are selling well at the moment, so prices are unlikely to reduce - they are probably more likely to go up in price as the cheaper seats sell out - so think about taking what you can find now. I hope this helps.

This may well be true, but it is outside our experience I'm afraid, as we specialise in agencies who sell flights departing from the UK. Perhaps another user will be able to confirm/dispute this - and provide details on how to go about purchasing such a ticket.
Incorrect fares
Non of the fares to New York quoted are correct. Its most dissapointing to find they are much higher than your quote

We have been able to manually confirm fares exist for £188/189 to New York from both Manchester and LHR (currently our cheapest quoted fares). The problem is probably that the cheaper fares are not available on the dates you wish to travel.

There is no sure way of knowing, so this is only our best guess - but as far as we remember, flights to places like New York often sell out over festive periods, so it might be best to take the best price you can find now.

We can only guess, but it doesn't look as if there are many flights left to New York in September for under £400, so it would probably be safer to buy the best deal you can find now!

Hi - there are actually many fares still available in November to New York for around £230 - £240, from London Airports. I'm not sure which fare you have seen with Aer Lingus for £320, but prices change over time based on availability on a particular date. i.e. on any particular date the cheaper fares tend to sell out first, leaving the more expensive fares.

For the benefit of other visitors to this site, after hours of trawling the web, i found and booked flights to NYC at the price advertised with Airline Network. Their site was easy to navigate, quick and documentation arrived promptly. First class service and highly recommended.
